Where we are located

We are situated in peaceful West Wallsend where there is a real sense of community. In the convenient location of adjacent to the local primary school and in walking distance from the main shopping centre. We are also only minutes from the freeway and many local suburbs. We have children who attend the centres from many different areas including Edgeworth, Wallsend, Elermore Valle, Barnsley, Holmesville, Glendale, Cameron Park and even Woodberry and Nords Warf.

About us - Our Unique approach to child care

We are 2 modern, colourful and well equipped child care centres catering for children 0-6yrs. Karrawong Kindy is separated into two separate small childcare centres 0-3yrs and 3-6yrs to give your child the individual attention they need in a small group setting with a family atmosphere. The two centres are only 1 minute apart to make drop off and picks ups easy.

In large childcare centres your child may be one of many and may not be receiving the individual care they deserve. We know all of our children and their families very well and we work together with them to provide an extension of the care they receive at home while also educating them in all developmental areas.

There are 3 age groups at the 0-3 centre… 0-1 years, 1-2 years and 2-3 years. At the 3-6 centre the children are divided into to 2 age groups 3-4 years and 4-6 years. Each age group has their own individual carer but also spends time with the other age groups. This allows the children to interact with children of differing age groups, children who are younger and older than themselves.

We believe that providing children with a small, secure and safe environment allows them to learn and develop to their full potential. We work in small groups with an individual carer for each age group. This ensures each child gets the attention and care they need. Having separate centres for 0-3’s and 3-6’s allows the number of children to stay small and gives the younger children a quieter, gentler, more flexible setting while allowing the older children to be challenged and independent.

Educational Programs

Each centre runs an educational child centred program that provides a variety of activities and experiences for the children. The programs are catered to each age group and include an individual objective for every child. Activities are planned to foster all developmental areas including art and crafts, maths, language and literacy, social skills, gross and fine motor, science and thinking skills. The children at the 0-3 centre are also provided with a variety of these activities, even the babies. The 3-6 centre runs a full preschool program all year round including school readiness. When children turn 3 and move up to the 3-6 centre it is a smooth transition due to the fact the staff are familiar, they have all done some hours at 0-3 centre and the routines at the two centres are very similar just with different times to do each thing.

Learning and Development

We believe as Early Childhood Educators it is our responsibility to:

Staffing

All staff are experienced and qualified with first aid and anaphylaxis training and are committed to gaining further knowledge on subjects relevant to the childcare industry.
