Nutrition requirements
Congratulations parents you have really embraced
the new nutrition requirements. This has meant that your children
have been very accepting of the change. So well done!
- It’s important to maintain the correct portions
your child needs.
- Staff have always supported good nutrition and have
also embraced aspects. Hunter Health and DOCS are aware
of this support.
Look around the centres at posters ad books
on display for different food ideas. There is nothing wrong
with making a salad sandwich eg. lettuce, tomato and cucumber
with mayonnaise or cheese spread instead of butter.
Good for kids, Good for life!
Trip to the fire Station
Already this year the 0-3’s and the
3-6’s have enjoyed a trip to the fire station. Where
they learnt about what to do in case of a fire. This reinforced
what we practice at fire drills and had a turn of the fire
hose and a look through the fire truck.
Easter hat parade
The 3-6’s have also had a successful
Easter hat parade. The children made special bunny masks.
Thank you to all that could attend.
Staff changes
You may have noticed some staff changes over
the last month and a half.
Jadei has decided to return to nursing and Maria has moved
back to Queensland. Please be patient while any new staff
settle in.
Parent Teacher interviews
Parent Teacher interviews will be organised
for the end of May. Sorry for the delay but there has been
a lot of staff on annual leave.
Pyjama party
Pyjama party and teddy bears picnic is on
for the whole week beginning 12th May. All children wear their
pyjamas and bring a favourite teddy or doll to share the day.
As this is a special week we encourage children to bring along
a favourite DVD to watch with their friends.
Sausage sizzle
All week beginning 30th June. This is a special
annual event but children still need to bring their vegies
as well. If your child doesn’t eat sausages you are
welcome to bring hash browns or vegie patties.
Accreditaion for 0-3’s
The 0-3 centre will be having their accreditation
visit in May/June. We have been waiting for this visit for
8 months. So we are looking forward to it.
Authorised Supervisor
Shelley has finally been cleared to apply
for authorised supervisor for the 0-3 centre. She should be
proud of this achievement and I will be happy to apply for
this change in licence.
Cooking
The 3-6 centre have successfully cooked piklets
and during May they will cook Anzac Biscuits.
Winter clothing
Well it’s finally cold and that means
making sure your children have a jacket, closed in shoes and
maybe a beanie for outside play. Some children also wear gloves.
Children still need to maintain Sun Safe practices such as
hats and sunglasses. We will still put sunscreen on the children.
Rest time
Can you please start supplying a blanket
as well as a fitted sheet set for rest time due to the colder
weather.
Portfolios
We hope you all enjoyed and appreciated your
child’s work. This gives you an insight into their abilities.
Make sure you write a comment each time you view it as these
are a special keepsake for your child. |
